Uh oh. It's a remake. It's directed by some German filmmaker no one's ever heard of. It's a "family on the run" plot. And it stars Nicole Kidman. Not to mention it has practically the same title as a recently axed ABC series. No, the prospects are not good for The Invasion, Oliver Picture's late-fall release. How reputable actors like Daniel Craig and Jeffrey Wright managed to sign on to this troubled production (rewritten and reshot by the Wachowski brothers and director James McTeigue earlier this year) is beyond us, but when the best aspect of your trailer is the music, you're screwed.
It's too bad Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman aren't still married. They've could've just paired this with War of the Worlds and had themselves a Grindhouse-style double feature.
