American Gangster, at last we see you
Surely, by now you've heard of the once-troubled, now FUCKING AMAZING! production that is American Gangster. The first on-screen pairing of Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe since...1995's Virtuosity. It's had a couple of different directors attached, several rewrites, salary disputes, and was even shut down for a while. In short, it looked like the thing was never going to happen. But it's here, it's coming out November 2nd, and the trailer is maybe the best two minutes-plus of anything we've seen this year, except perhaps Planet Earth and the final snap of Super Bowl XLI.
It's written by an Oscar winner, directed by an Oscar winner, produced by an Oscar winner, and it stars TWO Oscar winners. If this doesn't at least approach the greatness of The Departed, we'll eat a shit brick and post the pictures here. We may live to regret this post.
