Oprah still has more pull than us
Wouldn't we all love to score a sit-down with Cormac McCarthy, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Road and All the Pretty Horses? He's done only two interviews in his 40-year literary career and, apparently, doesn't even hang out with other writers. McCarthy rolls with scientists in New Mexico. Hey, if that's where all the good ideas come from, we're on our way to Albuquerque.
But that Oprah, queen of all media, somehow hooked McCarthy into appearing on her show. As per Oprah's style, the questions are mostly softball and obvious, yet hearing McCarthy explain how his young son influenced his post-apocalyptic masterpiece is worth all of Winfrey's bullshit. You can see the interview here, but you have to sign up for Oprah's Book Club. It's free, and we don't think there are any strings attached, but this is Oprah.
